My Day In Embassy

We assume you have gone through with the list of required documents before getting the embassy appointment. If Not? Go through with the list of required documents and book an appointment from Embassy in Islamabad or Foreign Office Karachi.

Let us try to see your day in the embassy. This is a typical case of an applicant. You can get the feel how your day would be in the German Embassy in Pakistan.

You will travel to Islamabad or Karachi according to your appointment if you are not already living in these cities. My appointment time was at 9 AM of some day. I travelled from Lahore to Islamabad at night. I had my breakfast at a very nice restaurant. I normally do not take tea, but I had that day because I wanted to have something different … so I had a cup of tea :)

I reached the Islamabad shuttle service three hours before. It was the early morning but the shuttle service area was a bit crowded. I went to take the print of the application declaration form as I forget to get it before. Guess how much they have charged me …250 rupees for two pages printout …oooh yes.

Tip 1: IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO HAVE YOUR ALL DOCUMENTS READY BEFORE GOING TO EMBASSY

bought the shuttle service ticket and went to the waiting area. In a meanwhile, I had a conversation with a girl, which of course I am not going to write it here. I took the shuttle service and reached the German Embassy gate. There was a little queue at the gate. I waited for my turn and then shown myself to an embassy officer at the gate. He had a quick look at my embassy appointment and rest of documents and allow me to go inside.

After reaching the embassy waiting area there was a dedicated officer which had gone through with my documents and arrange these in an order.

Tip 2: Please do not use staple your documents and paste your picture on the form. Just arrange your documents in two sets and give these sets to the officer. The officer will staple your picture and bundle your both sets with a pin.

Having my documents in separate sets, I waited in the waiting area for few minutes. My eyes were on token screen and here come my number. I went to the mentioned desk and said Hi to the officer. The visa officer was so polite.....she has to be as Germans are polite. She asked me for my job offer letter and then she started going through with my documents one by one and started asking me questions.

These were the questions, which the visa officer asked me at the time of my job interview.

What is your name? I am kidding this was not the question. As my name was written on almost every document... So relax.
  • How did you get this job?
  • Are you working right now? where? What is your current salary?
  • Do you have ZAB certificate?
  • Did you get any visa rejection before
  • Then there were some questions about the family. How many siblings you have? What your father do and how much he earns. What your siblings do? And where they live. Do you have any sibling living abroad?
  • For how long you want to stay in Germany?
  • When you will come back?
  • Write a passage, which explains how did you get this job? Where do you work? How this job is relevant to your skills.
After the questions around, she said to email us the ZAB certificate on embassy email id along with the application number. Then she gave me the slip of fee deposit, which was around 12,000 Pakistani Rupees. I said bye to her and walked for five minutes from the German embassy to the bank to deposit the fee. It was due to deposit in the standard charted bank.
