This is a gentle guide to explain the possibilities and processes of getting a work visa in Germany from Pakistan. The idea behind this blog is to provide the information about work visa in Germany. Normally we see a lot of information related to study or student visa in Germany. There is very less information available on a work visa in Germany.   
The inspiration behind this blog is the Facebook pages (Study and Life in Germany and Study and Life in Germany) running by Pakistani students in Germany. These people are very friendly, and I like to thank you all who contribute in these groups and help people of Pakistan getting information.  
Kindly Note: this is the not the official guide of German Embassy in Pakistan. The information provided here is of our best knowledge. The regulation could get changed without informing. Therefore, it is highly recommended to have a look at the offical website for up to date information. Let us come to the question which comes to our mind while thinking about working in Germany.  

Does Germany offer a work visa?  
Yes, Germany offers work visa 🙂 

Under which conditions we can get the work visa?  
After the introduction of the new immigration law in January 2005 by the German Republic. There are three residence permits for work purposes in Germany.  
  1. General Employment 
  2. Specialist Professional 
  3. Self-employed  
These categories are self-explained but let us go through with each one by one.  
1) General Employment 
The acceptance of foreign national in general employment is based on the economic needs of the Federal Republic of Germany. Normally these are the conditions under which Germany offers visa in general employment.   
  • Vocational Qualification.  
  • A concrete offer of a contract of employment. 
2) Specialist Professional 
The Federal Republic of Germany is interested in attracting specialist professionals to work and live in Germany. This applies particularly to: 
  • Graduates with special professional knowledge and experience. 
  • University teachers with outstanding career profiles. 
  • Experienced managers with an offer of a job carrying a salary of not less than 86.400 Euros per year. (a dot is for thousand in European currency)  
3) Self-Employment  
Self-employment is also the option to get the visa in Germany. In this category, your investment must worth 1 million Euros and creates 10 new jobs in Germany. Of course, you will need a detailed proposal. To ensure the sustainability of your business project, the following criteria will also be taken into the account.  
  • Fulfil the needs of Germany self-employment. 
  • Have a beneficial economic impact.  
  • Be fully covered by your own capital or bank loan for which there is a written confirmation.  
  • The viability of your business plan.  
  • Your relevant business experience in the subject.   
  • The amount to be invested in Germany.  
  • Impact of your business project on employment and skills.  
  • The contribution of your project to innovation and research.  

What could be done from Pakistan?  
Any from the above category could be considered to get the work permit from Pakistan. However, the first two options are easy and need zero capital. In both categories, you do not have to hire an agent or any service and you do not have to pay anything. The only thing is, you need to prepare yourself and get the required documents ready. That's it.  

There are two possibilities for citizens of Pakistan to get the work visa in Germany.  
  • You already have a valid job offer.  
  • You do not have a valid job offer but you want to travel to Germany to look for the job.  
It is possible to get the work visa from Pakistan in both conditions. As it looks, the first option is relevantly simple and straightforward. It requires less documentation, money, and time etc.

Documents Required for Travel

Once you get your work visa from Embassy along with all celebrations it  is the  time to prepare your documents for travelling. T he real fun will start when you will come to  Germany .   Here is the list of documents, which you will need after getting your work visa.   Your passport with a  valid visa.    T hree-month  travel  insurance  starting from the day you travel.    Your residence booking confirmation.
